Welcome to O&I....Fine Art at the tip of your needle!
This page is designed to help you make the most of your visit to O&I....
To visually get the most of your time here you will need: IE 5.0 or higher, NN 4.0 or higher or Opera. To get the most out of your monitor (here or anywhere on the web) you can easily calibrate it using the information on this wonderful page available from the Denver Public Library system (and linked with their kind permission): Calibrate!
When you first get to O&I you will be at the index page. From there you can click on '
Enter' to do so or use the drop down menu to select a specific gallery or artist. A very few areas of the site will open a new window and you will find that the slide-out menu is available in those areas (just hover your mouse to the left side of this screen and see how it slides out for you!) so that you can quickly and easily return to the index at any time.
To get to different, specialized areas such as the Stitcher's Gallery, Conversions, etc just look to the right side of your screen while in the catalog. Mail-in order forms and much, much more are available from this menu.
In the galleries themselves: first you will see a thumbnail view, clicking on any of the thumbnail pictures will take you to a Detail Page with title, artist, stitch count and color information and from which you will be able to order a chart. Clicking on "previous" or "next" below the table of thumbnails on this page will take you to the last or next thumbnail page. Clicking on the thumbnail image on any detail page will open a new window showing the full-sized picture (if your browser wants to re-size this image try hovering your mouse over the lower, right hand corner and click when the arrows show up- this will make it full-size again).
Ordering: When you view a detail page you will see a drop-down menu
Clicking on the down arrow will show you your choices which are as follows:

Gallery Index, Artist Index and Search: Here you will find 3 ways to browse through the entirety of the site. The first is a simple search- just type in what you are looking for and it will bring back results for you. Note that you are able to search the entire site or only within certain galleries or artists. Second: Browse by gallery. When you click on the drop down list it will bring back an alphabetical listing of every gallery on the website. Third: Browse by artist. The same as the last but alphabetically by artist.
New: This is where you will find the newest additions to the site, updated on the 15th of each month and works as a regular gallery.
About O&I and FAQ: What do you get when you order? Find out here along with the answers to other commonly asked questions in the FAQ. About O&I is a quick reference to shipping policy, privacy policy and how to contact me (along with a really bad picture of me for you to laugh at)!
O&I Auction: This is a free (for buyers AND sellers) auction site mainly for needlework related items. Volunteers built and maintain the site and it is supported entirely by user contributions. There is no charge to register, list or bid. Businesses may list but must clearly state that they are businesses and a link (if they have a website) would be nice. O&I does not list items on this site but only sponsors and assists in maintaining the site.
Links: A free links submission page for needlework related sites from personal to retail as well as some of the nicer art sites online.
Stitchers Gallery: The Stitchers Gallery showcases O&I charts both in progress and completed using pictures sent in by actual customers. On the left side of this gallery you will see the customers picture and on the right you will see the chart as shown here on the site.
Email Downloads: Accessible through the Freebies & Extras section these are free and simple downloads for those wishing to receive their orders via email.
Conversion Lists: Because these charts are used by such a variety of needleworkers several conversion charts have been made available for you. DMC, Anchor, App. Crewel, Paternayan, Eterna Silks and Delica Beads. Conversions may be viewed online or printed off. To view online just click the link for the set of colors you need, to print click the link and after the page has loaded highlight the table with conversions and choose "Print" on your browser and then (if your printer makes the option available to you) "Selection". This will print only the table and not the entire page.
International Currency Converter: O&I ships all over the world and realizes that the exchange rates fluctuate frequently. Using the Currency Converter lets you know what your order will cost you according to your own currency (although all payments are in U.S. dollars only). The first box in the converter is for the amount- probably 7.75 (no need for the dollar sign $), the second box is what you are converting from (it doesn't need to be changed), the third box is for your country's currency- just use the down arrow here to access the drop-down menu and choose your country/currency from the list then click "Go!" to find your conversion.
